In 2002 we organized the Environmental Committee of Playa Sámara. On an informal basis, we continue to lobby for the sustainable exploitation of our natural resources. If you express an interest in birding, expect to meet Sara at 5:30 a.m.; she will greet you with a thermos of coffee and invite you on an expedition to search out the local and transient avian residents in our area. We work with local authorities to protect our excellent drinking water, to manage the protected Isla Chora wildlife refuge, and to monitor and control activities that might endanger the biodiversity of our rich natural area. Our own garden is frequented by various critters, who are given free license to graze. After all, WE are the visitors here!
